Giving Wildlife a Second Chance

Every year, countless wild animals are injured, orphaned, or become sick due to vehicle collisions, storms, habitat loss, encounters with pets, and countless other circumstances beyond their control. When that happens, licensed wildlife rehabilitators step in to provide the specialized care these animals need with the goal of returning them to the wild whenever possible.

What many people don’t realize is that wildlife rehabilitation is rarely funded by government agencies. The cost of formula, food, medications, veterinary treatment, specialized enclosures, and daily care is largely covered through donations and the dedication of volunteers who give their time, resources, and compassion to helping wildlife.

Wildhearts Rehab & Rescue Foundation was established to support the rescue, transportation, rehabilitation, and release of Indiana’s native wildlife while educating the public about living alongside the animals that share our communities.

Whenever possible, we encourage members of the public to safely transport orphaned or injured wildlife directly to Wildhearts. When that’s not possible, our volunteers work to provide transportation so animals can receive the care they need as quickly as possible.

Our mission is simple: to ensure that every wild animal has the opportunity to receive compassionate, professional care and, whenever possible, a second chance at life in the wild.

Our services are provided at no cost to those seeking help, but they are not without cost. Every rescue, every bottle of formula, every medical treatment, and every successful release is made possible through the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community supporters. Together, we can make a lasting difference for the wildlife that depends on us.

Wildhearts Rehab & Rescue Foundation is currently being established as a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of native wildlife. As we work through the process of obtaining federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, we rely on the generosity of community members who believe in our mission and want to help give wildlife a second chance.
